Israel monitors Syrian Air Force reconstruction and Turkish military activity

Israeli security services have expressed concern regarding the rapid reconstruction of the Syrian Air Force. Reports from the Israeli broadcaster Kan indicate that intelligence has identified signs of new pilot recruitment and training exercises involving Sukhoi fighter aircraft, helicopters, and trainer planes in northern Syria.

This military buildup follows the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime and previous Israeli airstrikes intended to deplete Syria's strategic military capabilities. Damascus is currently working to rebuild its military institutions, aided by an expanding relationship with Turkey. The two nations have signed a memorandum of understanding for joint military training and consultations.

Additionally, reports indicate that Israel requested U.S. military strikes against Turkish or Turkish-backed targets in northern Syria, but President Trump personally intervened to block the operation. This occurs amid a growing Turkish military presence in regions inhabited by Kurdish populations and a collective defense pact signed between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan.
