Israel moves to sue New York Times over alleged defamation

A New York Times spokesperson rejected the accusations, calling the proposed suit “without merit” and part of a “well‑worn political playbook.” The newspaper defended its reporting, noting extensive fact‑checking, corroboration with witnesses, and consultation with independent experts. The dispute has sparked protests outside the newspaper’s headquarters and heightened debate over media coverage of the Israel‑Palestine conflict.
