Israel National Security Council warns of rising global terror threats

Israel’s National Security Council (NSC) has issued an updated assessment warning of an expanding terror threat against Israelis and Jewish targets worldwide. The warning comes ahead of the Jewish High Holidays and the third anniversary of the October 7 attacks.

The NSC identifies Iran and its proxies, specifically Hezbollah and Hamas, as the most significant global threats. Additionally, the council noted rising dangers from lone attackers radicalized by anti-Israel incitement and rhetoric online. Other international terror networks, including ISIS and Al-Qaeda, are also cited as potential actors.

While the assessment does not constitute new official travel warnings, it reinforces existing ones. Officials strongly urge Israelis to reconsider travel to high-risk destinations, specifically mentioning Jordan and Egypt (including the Sinai Peninsula), which remain under Level 4 travel warnings. Travelers are advised to avoid using Level 4 countries for connecting flights and, if transit is unavoidable, to remain within airport terminals.
