Israel plans 100 new settlements in West Bank's Zone A

Israel's settler groups, including the Settlers’ Farm Association and the Havat Forum, have prepared a plan to seize about 100 strategic locations in Zone A of the occupied West Bank. The proposal, described in media reports as a “day of execution,” would place forces in sites that, under the Oslo II accords of 1995, remain under Palestinian Authority administrative and security control.

The plan was presented to Israeli government ministers and figures close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the scheme as a systematic war crime that breaches international law, United Nations resolutions and the two‑state solution, urging the UN Security Council to act. The ministry also called for enforcement of the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion for 2024.

Since October 2023, Palestinian authorities report more than 1,173 Palestinians killed, 12,666 wounded and around 23,000 arrested in Israeli military operations on the West Bank, underscoring the volatile context in which the settlement proposal is emerging.
