Israel plans to add 2,721 new settlement units in the West Bank

The Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) announced that Israel intends to construct at least 2,721 new housing units in illegal settlements across the West Bank. The plan will be discussed by Israel's Civil Administration Planning Council on 3 June.

According to the PLO, 1,006 of the new units are slated for the Givat settlement west of Beitullahim, 922 for a settlement near Nablus, 455 for Jenin, and 338 for settlements in Hebron and Salfit. As of 30 March, the total number of settlement outposts exceeded 542, and the settler population in the occupied territories surpassed 780,000.

The announcements highlight ongoing expansion of Israeli settlements, a contentious issue in the Israeli‑Palestinian conflict and a focus of international diplomatic concern.
