Israel rejects Board of Peace proposal, prompting calls for international pressure

Hidayat Nur Wahid, Vice Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), has called for increased international pressure on Israel following its rejection of the 15-point Board of Peace (BoP) peace proposal. The rejection is viewed as a maneuver to obstruct the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

Hidayat urged the eight BoP supporting nations—Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Indonesia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan—to move beyond joint statements and take concrete actions. He suggested that these nations should encourage Donald Trump, the initiator and leader of the BoP, to apply more effective pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, potentially including the threat of strict sanctions.

The goal of such pressure is to ensure Israel adheres to peace agreements, allows humanitarian aid access, and supports the reconstruction of Gaza. Hidayat also noted that Israel's stance serves as a setback to the efforts led by the United States through the BoP framework.
