Israel responds to Gaza documentary and issues evacuation threat

Israeli military sources have responded to the documentary ‘Naza’ (Collateral Damage), directed by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, which alleges indiscriminate attacks on civilians in the Gaza Strip. Military officials stated that there is no policy of deliberately targeting civilians and described the internal decision-making and authorization processes used for airstrikes following the October 7 attacks.

The documentary, which received a Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival, has sparked significant controversy and protests within Israel. Directors Abraham and Szor have emphasized the importance of the film in addressing the conduct of the military offensive.

Separately, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a warning regarding the potential kidnapping of an Israeli soldier or civilian by Hamas. Katz stated that, based on intelligence reports, the entire population of Gaza City—exceeding one million residents—would be evacuated if such a kidnapping occurs. Katz also affirmed that Israeli troops will not withdraw from the established perimeter until Hamas is overthrown and the territory is demilitarized.
