Israel retains 800 Palestinian bodies while killing 152 in Gaza in July

Israel continues a policy of retaining the remains of roughly 800 Palestinians killed by its army or settlers in the occupied West Bank, according to the Jerusalem Legal Assistance Center (JLAC). The bodies, including those of 83 children and adolescents, are kept in unmarked graves, preventing families from performing burial rites. Families such as those of Ahmad Al Salah, 15, and Mohamad Al Alyan Issa, 17, have been waiting for years without knowing the location or fate of their loved ones.

In July 2025, the Israeli military killed at least 152 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip despite a U.S.-backed cease‑fire. The Gaza Ministry of Health recorded 113 men, 21 children and adolescents, 14 women and 8 elderly among the dead. Attacks hit residential neighborhoods, a displaced‑persons camp and medical facilities, further deepening the humanitarian crisis and violating international humanitarian law.
