Israel shares Houthi intelligence with Saudi Arabia via U.S. channel

Israel has begun providing intelligence to Saudi Arabia regarding the Iran-aligned Houthi rebels in Yemen. This security cooperation is being facilitated through a United States channel, specifically via U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).

According to regional diplomats, the arrangement was initiated following a request from Riyadh to Washington. The intelligence is intended to bolster Saudi Arabia’s ability to defend itself against Houthi ballistic missiles and drone attacks, particularly to protect critical oil infrastructure and ensure freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

The shared information is expected to include data on Houthi military positions, weapons infrastructure, and operational plans. Israeli intelligence capabilities regarding the group have grown due to direct military confrontations with Houthi missile and drone strikes following the October 7 attacks. Recent discussions involving U.S. officials, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi have also explored the potential for a regional command structure to coordinate responses to the Yemeni rebels.
