Israel transitions to winter time as seasonal clock change approaches

Daylight saving time in Israel is scheduled to end at 2:00 AM on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at which point clocks will be set back one hour. This transition to winter time, mandated by the 1992 Time Measurement Law, means that the night between Saturday and Sunday will be one hour longer.

The change will result in earlier sunsets and later sunrises. For example, in Nazareth, sunset is expected to occur approximately one hour earlier than in recent weeks. While digital devices like smartphones and computers typically update automatically, manual adjustments will be required for wall clocks, wristwatches, car clocks, and kitchen timers.

Research regarding seasonal time changes suggests that while ending the practice of switching clocks could reduce short-term disruptions, the choice of a permanent year-round time remains a significant debate. Experts note that standard time aligns better with human biological rhythms by providing essential morning light, whereas permanent daylight saving time can delay morning light during winter months.
