Israel uses AI tools for West Bank land monitoring and demolitions
Researchers and rights activists report that Israel is utilizing artificial intelligence to monitor Palestinian land in the West Bank and Gaza. According to the Turkish media outlet PalDigital, the Israeli weapons manufacturer Rafael developed an AI tool called ImiSight, which is used to observe landscape changes.
Reports indicate that these observations are used as justification for home demolitions. The technology was reportedly first used in the Naqab desert to target Bedouin Palestinian citizens, and has since been deployed in the occupied West Bank. Activists claim the tool facilitates forced displacement by identifying unauthorized structures in areas where obtaining building permits is difficult for Palestinians.
