Israel views lack of U.S.-Iran deal as beneficial to national interests

Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen has stated that the current lack of a diplomatic agreement between the United States and Iran serves Israel's best interests. Cohen, a member of Israel's limited security cabinet, suggested that the ongoing military pressure and heavy economic sanctions on Iran are causing the Iranian economy to bend.

Cohen expressed the view that continued pressure could lead to the collapse of the Iranian government's remaining structures. He claimed that Israel has laid the groundwork for such an outcome. Additionally, Israeli officials maintain that Iran's recent regional actions are constrained by Israel's deterrence capabilities.

While Israel is currently observing the situation to allow the U.S. administration to manage the crisis, military analysts and commentators remain skeptical about regional stability. Some reports suggest a preference for avoiding large-scale military operations against Iran until after the U.S. midterm elections.
