Israeli Ambassador Galit Peleg disputes Gaza genocide claims

Galit Peleg, the Israeli Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania, has dismissed allegations of genocide in Gaza during a farewell visit to Sarajevo. In a television interview, Peleg argued that calling the situation in Gaza a genocide is ‘a little ridiculous,’ particularly when speaking to an audience in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Peleg attributed full responsibility for civilian casualties to Hamas and contested findings from United Nations agencies regarding food shortages in the Gaza Strip. She suggested that the death toll should be viewed separately from propaganda, noting the tragedy of the loss of life while rejecting the legal classification of genocide.

As her mandate concludes at the end of September, Peleg also announced the opening of an Israeli Chamber of Commerce in Banja Luka, Republic of Srpska.
