Israeli military bulldozes Palestinian olive groves near Ramallah
Israeli military bulldozers have uprooted olive groves in the village of Deir Nidham near Ramallah in the occupied West Bank. The destruction occurred in late September, just before the annual olive harvest traditionally beginning in October.
Local farmers, including Abd Alfattah Tamimi and Nather Tamimi, reported that the military destroyed trees on their family lands and neighboring properties. In a broader context, Israeli authorities have issued multiple orders for the uprooting of olive trees across the West Bank. In the first nine months of 2026, 51 orders were issued targeting 210 hectares of groves. The Palestinian Authority’s Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission reported that in August alone, over 21,500 trees were impacted by Israeli actions.
The olive sector is a vital component of the Palestinian economy, accounting for roughly 8 percent of the GDP and supporting over 60,000 jobs.
