Israeli border communities see population growth and infrastructure updates

Israeli border communities near Gaza and Lebanon are seeing developments in population and infrastructure despite ongoing security threats. In Sderot, located less than a mile from the Gaza border, the population has increased by nearly 20 percent since October 2023, rising from 35,477 to approximately 42,000 residents. Organizations like the Reut Foundation are supporting the community through programs such as food assistance for reserve families and summer camps for at-risk children.

On the northern border with Lebanon, the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ) has completed the renovation and restoration of four large underground bomb shelters for Kibbutz Hanita. Funded by donations from Switzerland, these shelters are intended to provide safety and cohesion for families in the Upper Galilee region during rocket barrages. The project included safety improvements such as reflective stair strips and the placement of dedication plaques to mark the completion of the work.
