Israeli citizen arrested in Colombia for $16 million Dubai bank fraud

Michael Mizrahi, a 61-year-old Israeli and Mexican citizen, has been arrested at El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá, Colombia, following an Interpol request. Mizrahi, also known as ‘the Banker’, is suspected of involvement in an international fraud ring that allegedly defrauded the Bank of Khartoum in Dubai of approximately 61.4 million dirhams (about $16 million).

Investigators report that the suspects posed as wealthy investors and business representatives, using forged financial documents and fictitious investment schemes to obtain funds. Authorities believe a portion of the stolen money was transferred to companies owned by Mizrahi.

Colonel Elver Vicente Alfonso, head of Interpol in Colombia, confirmed the arrest and noted cooperation with law enforcement in Dubai. Legal proceedings are underway to extradite Mizrahi to the United Arab Emirates, though the process may face delays if the suspect challenges the extradition.
