Israeli Colonel expresses no regret over Gaza WCK strike

Former Israeli Colonel Nochi Mendel stated in a recent interview that he does not regret ordering the April 2024 strike in Gaza that killed seven World Central Kitchen (WCK) aid workers. In the interview, which was conducted in October 2025 but released recently, Mendel confirmed he gave the order but claimed there was no intention to target the WCK staff. He defended his decision by alleging that an armed individual had entered one of the vehicles in the convoy.

A spokesperson for World Central Kitchen rejected Mendel’s claims, describing them as “slanderous” and questioning his credibility. The organization has called for a full and independent investigation into the incident.

The Israeli military previously addressed the strike, acknowledging errors but maintaining that the commanders' decisions did not violate criminal law.
