Israeli delegation walks out of UN during Erdoğan speech

The Israeli delegation, led by envoy Danny Danon, walked out of the United Nations General Assembly hall during a speech by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The walkout occurred as Erdoğan addressed the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip and conditions in the West Bank.

In his address, Erdoğan criticized the international community for its perceived inaction and described the situation in Gaza as having turned into ‘the world’s largest graveyard for children.’ He accused the Israeli government of refusing to end the violence and transition to the second phase of a peace plan. Erdoğan also called on nations that have not yet recognized a Palestinian state to do so, labeling the exclusion of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas from the assembly as ‘injustice.’

Furthermore, the Turkish President criticized the United Nations, stating the organization has become ‘effectively paralyzed’ and is unable to fulfill its mandate to maintain international peace and security. He urged for immediate reconstruction efforts in Gaza and increased international pressure on Israel to end the war.
