Israeli interceptor missile debris injures nine in Gaza City
Nine Palestinians were injured in Gaza City on Saturday night when debris from an Israeli interceptor missile fell on a populated area. The incident occurred in the Al Tufah neighborhood, located northeast of Gaza City, in an area inhabited by displaced persons near the Israeli control line.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a statement explaining that the interceptor missile was launched against a “false target” that was subsequently identified as friendly fire originating from IDF operations in the southern Gaza Strip. The military confirmed the missile impacted its target over Gaza City and stated that the incident is currently under investigation.
Medical sources in Gaza confirmed nine injuries resulting from the explosion. The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that some of the wounded were transported to its field hospital.
