Israeli medical specialists provide healthcare in El Chorrillo, Panama
A delegation of medical specialists from the Tel Aviv Sourasky University Medical Center (Ichilov) is providing free healthcare services to residents of the El Chorrillo community in Panama. The health mission, held from August 18 to 20 at the El Chorrillo Health Center, is an initiative led by the Embassy of Israel in Panama in coordination with the Panamanian Ministry of Health (Minsa) and the Office of the First Lady.
Specialties offered include obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, and optometry. To expand the reach of the program, the Office of the First Lady provided mobile units equipped for mammographies, audiometry, and optometry evaluations. Israeli specialists are working alongside Panamanian doctors, facilitating a direct exchange of clinical knowledge and best practices. The mission also included the donation of medical supplies and 200 pairs of eyeglasses.
Israeli Ambassador Mattanya Cohen stated the mission represents the friendship between Israel and Panama, while First Lady Maricel Cohen de Mulino highlighted the importance of this bilateral cooperation, which follows a visit by Israeli President Isaac Herzog to Panama in May. The Israeli diplomatic representation also announced that specialists in water resource management are expected to visit Panama in the near future.
