Israeli military raids Birzeit University in the West Bank

Israeli military forces conducted a raid on Birzeit University, located north of Ramallah in the West Bank. According to reports from the Palestinian news agency WAFA, soldiers entered the campus and raided a university building. Footage of the operation was also released by the Israeli military, showing soldiers filming the Martyrs' Monument on campus before withdrawing.

The university administration condemned the incursion, stating that the presence of armed soldiers intimidated students during their examinations and compromised their right to education and safety. This incident is part of a pattern of military activity in the region; university records indicate that Birzeit has faced at least 26 raids since 2002, involving searches, property damage, and student detentions.

The raid follows recent Israeli military operations in and around Ramallah and Al-Bireh. While no immediate reports of injuries or detentions were confirmed following this specific raid, the university noted that such recurring incursions significantly disrupt daily life and academic continuity for its approximately 13,400 students.
