The 80-minute documentary, produced by The Guardian, is based on anonymous testimonies from 24 Israeli military and intelligence personnel. It alleges that the Israeli military utilizes artificial intelligence-assisted systems, such as ‘Lavender’, to identify targets and conduct operations in Gaza that result in significant Palestinian civilian casualties.

Israeli officials have responded with sharp condemnation. National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir called the filmmakers a ‘shame and a disgrace’ to the nation. The Israeli military has rejected the film’s allegations, stating that while AI is used for intelligence work, human personnel make all final decisions regarding attacks. The documentary received a 25-minute standing ovation during its Venice premiere.
