Israeli MK Dan Iluz Defects to Avigdor Lieberman's Israel Beitenu

Knesset member Dan Iluz announced his departure from the Likud party and his entry into Israel Beitenu, the party led by Avigdor Lieberman. Iluz, who voted against the draft‑exemption law for Haredi students and criticised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, will be placed in a realistic spot on Israel Beitenu’s list for the upcoming parliamentary election.

Iluz said he joined the party because it represents the “national‑liberal values” he believes in, noting that he had previously cooperated with Israel Beitenu members in opposing the draft‑evasion legislation. The party praised his record, citing his work on the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, his role in proposals to curb foreign consulates in Jerusalem, and his broader advocacy for free‑market policies and lower living costs. Iluz’s background includes a legal career, immigration from Canada, service in the Israel Defense Forces, and prior positions in the foreign ministry and Jerusalem city council.
