Thailand considers expelling French and Israeli nationals over Koh Samui dispute

Thai authorities in Surat Thani are considering the revocation of visas and the expulsion of a French zoo manager and an Israeli restaurateur following a highly publicized dispute on Koh Samui.

The conflict originated at the Samui Exotic Park after an altercation involving an Israeli family. The situation escalated when the French manager displayed Palestinian symbols, including a Palestinian flag and a crossed-out Israeli flag. Tensions rose further following online exchanges and allegations that an influencer offered a 500,000 baht bounty to locate the French manager.

Colonel Thitiphong Inwasa of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) stated that security services are gathering evidence for a provincial commission to review the case. Authorities aim to prevent the personal dispute from evolving into a broader community conflict. An Israeli restaurateur involved in the dispute has already received a suspended prison sentence and a fine from a Koh Samui court.
