Israeli officials and settlers visit Al-Aqsa and Western Wall

Israeli settlers and government officials conducted several visits to sensitive religious sites in occupied East Jerusalem ahead of Yom Kippur. Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and others entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound to perform Jewish prayers in the courtyard.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also visited the Western Wall, known to Muslims as the al-Buraq Wall. Accompanied by security forces, government ministers, and thousands of settlers, Netanyahu performed ‘Selichot’ prayers at the site. He and his wife, Sara, also toured excavation tunnels located beneath the Western Wall and the Old City, areas that are highly sensitive to the local Palestinian population.
