Israeli residency granted to Iranian Christian after Huckabee intervention
Ramin Parsa, an Iranian-born Christian married to an Israeli woman, has been granted a one-year temporary residency permit by Israel’s Population and Immigration Authority. The decision follows a prolonged legal battle that saw Parsa facing deportation due to his Iranian birthplace, a country legally classified as an enemy state by Israel.
The case gained momentum after U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee intervened by sending an official letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In the letter, Huckabee highlighted Parsa’s support for Israel, his opposition to the Iranian regime, and the humanitarian implications for his Israeli wife and child.
While the one-year permit provides temporary legal status and a pathway toward seeking permanent residency, the family had previously faced multiple rejections from the Interior Ministry. Parsa expressed hope that his case would encourage authorities to consider individual circumstances beyond nationality.
