Israeli troops kill 11-year-old boy in southern Gaza

An 11-year-old Palestinian boy, identified as Obaida Osama Al Sheij Eid, was shot and killed by Israeli troops in the southern Gaza Strip on Wednesday. According to sources from Nasser Hospital, the child died from gunshot wounds sustained in the Mawasi area near Khan Yunis.

Eid resided in the Bir 19 tent camp for displaced persons, located close to the line where Israeli troops are stationed. The area is also near a large sand barrier being constructed by Israel across the southern Gaza Strip. Residents of the Bir 19 camp have previously reported being fired upon by soldiers while inside their tents, resulting in multiple deaths, including children.

This incident occurred despite a ceasefire that has been in effect for eleven months. Reports indicate that sporadic attacks against suspected Hamas members and gunfire directed at Palestinians near the military “yellow line” continue to occur.
