Israel's Defense Minister Meets US Deputy Secretary on Iran and Regional Security

Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant held a nightly security call with U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks. During the discussion Gallant was briefed on recent U.S. military activities targeting Iran and the two officials reaffirmed their commitment to continue close security coordination in response to any developments.

Gallant also briefed Hicks on Israel’s operations against jihadist groups in Syria, Gaza and Lebanon, emphasizing the need for a persistent security presence following the Oct. 7 attacks. He stressed that Israel does not expect the United States to act on its behalf along Israel’s borders, reaffirming Israel’s responsibility to protect its citizens.

Both sides agreed to maintain tight intelligence and operational cooperation as regional tensions evolve.
