Israel's standing in the U.S. reaches unprecedented low

Israel's standing in the United States has reached an unprecedented low due to the policies of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government, according to reports from Haaretz. The decline in support is no longer limited to the Democratic Party; criticism is also increasing among Republicans, traditionally Israel's strongest American allies. Former U.S. Ambassador Dan Shapiro noted that this shift is becoming visible across the political spectrum.

Several factors contribute to this deterioration, including Netanyahu's overt involvement in U.S. politics in favor of Donald Trump and the Republican Party, which has alienated Democratic voters. Additionally, the influence of far-right ministers such as Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, along with settler violence in the West Bank and actions in Gaza and Jerusalem, has fueled international and domestic resistance.

Public opinion data reflects this shift. A Gallup poll from February indicated that 41 percent of Americans felt more sympathy for Palestinians compared to 36 percent for Israelis. While Republican support remains high at 69 percent, Democratic support stands at only 33 percent. Among Americans aged 18 to 34, only 35 percent expressed a positive view of Israel.
