Israel's UN envoy warns of retaliation against Iran

Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon has warned that Israel will respond forcefully if attacked by Iran again. Danon stated that while Israel coordinates with the United States, the nation will not wait for international permission to retaliate if a direct attack occurs.

Danon emphasized that any resolution regarding Iran must achieve three primary objectives: preventing nuclear capabilities, halting ballistic missile threats, and stopping the funding of proxy groups. He noted that Iran’s activities are impacting the global economy by disrupting critical maritime chokepoints, specifically the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab.

Furthermore, Danon expressed disappointment regarding the lack of international leadership from European nations in helping the United States secure international shipping lanes. He contrasted the current situation with previous international efforts to combat Somali piracy, noting that while the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain are willing to assist, more involvement is needed to protect trade routes through the Strait of Hormuz, where vessel traffic has significantly decreased.
