ISS recommends Baek In-gyu for Korea Zinc audit committee
Global proxy advisory firm ISS has recommended that shareholders vote in favor of Baek In-gyu for the position of independent director and audit committee member at Korea Zinc. Conversely, ISS advised voting against Park Yu-kyung, the candidate proposed by MBK Partners and Young Poong.
In its analysis report for the upcoming extraordinary general meeting on September 9, ISS noted that Baek’s expertise in accounting, auditing, and internal controls aligns more directly with the current needs of Korea Zinc’s audit committee. Baek previously held senior positions at Deloitte Korea and currently serves as a professor at Dankook University.
ISS also stated it found no evidence that the candidate recommendation process conducted by Korea Zinc’s independent director recommendation committee was improper or failed to meet governance standards. This recommendation follows a similar stance from the domestic advisory firm Sustinvest, which also endorsed Baek based on his professional suitability for financial reporting and risk management roles.
