Issa Diop's late header secures Morocco's World Cup win over Netherlands
Defender Issa Diop scored a powerful header to equalise for Morocco in the dying minutes of their World Cup match against the Netherlands, keeping the Lions of the Atlas alive. The goal sent Morocco through to the round of 16, where they will meet Canada.
Born in Toulouse on 9 January 1997 to a Senegalese father and Moroccan mother, Diop previously represented France at youth level and played in the Premier League with West Ham United and Fulham. Choosing to represent his mother's country, he has become a key figure in the Moroccan defence, earning the nickname “General” for his leadership on the pitch.
