Issa Zongo assumes command of Burkina Faso's GSIPN

Police Commissioner Issa Zongo officially assumed command of the National Police Special Intervention Group (GSIPN) on Thursday, August 27, 2026, in Badnoogo. The appointment, which was formalized during a Council of Ministers meeting on June 18, 2026, was marked by a ceremony where Zongo received the national flag from the Director General of the National Police, Thierry Dofizouho Tuina.

In his inaugural address, Zongo emphasized that his mandate would focus on professionalism, commitment, and operational continuity. He noted that the unit's previous successes in various regions of Burkina Faso had built the trust necessary for this leadership transition.
