Issia Wazi FC Chairman outlines club modernization and Ligue 1 ambitions
Stéphane Kipré, Chairman of the Board of Issia Wazi FC, has reviewed his first two seasons leading the club, highlighting efforts to modernize the organization and improve local football in Côte d’Ivoire.
Upon his arrival, the club faced significant challenges typical of Ligue 2 formations. After securing a seventh-place finish in his first season, the second season focused on reconstruction, which Kipré noted came at a sporting cost as the team finished near the bottom of the table.
A major milestone occurred in early 2025 when the club transitioned from a sports association to a formal sports company. This restructuring introduced professional governance, including a formal organizational chart, administrative and financial departments, and regular salary payments. Kipré emphasized that professional performance on the pitch requires professional operational management. Looking ahead, the club aims for promotion to Ligue 1 and plans to expand its youth development through the creation of a U17 team.
