ISSSTE Hospital in Morelos performs successful brain tumor removal
The Centenario de la Revolución Mexicana High Specialty Regional Hospital (HRAE), part of the ISSSTE institute in Morelos, successfully performed a brain tumor resection on a 62-year-old patient. The patient had been suffering from epileptic seizures and partial paralysis since August.
Neurosurgeon René Domínguez Herz reported that the procedure utilized advanced technology, including an advanced neuronavigation system and an ultrasonic aspirator. Pre-operative planning involved MRI, tractography, and spectroscopy to visualize brain connections in 3D, aiming to minimize neurological sequelae.
The patient has been discharged with significant improvement in quality of life and no further epileptic seizures. Medical staff noted that the hospital's specialized capacity allowed for timely treatment within the state, avoiding the need for a transfer to the National Medical Center in Mexico City.
