Issyk Lake in Kyrgyzstan to Host First Central Asian F1H2O Grand Prix
Issyk Lake, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in northeastern Kyrgyzstan at 1,607 m above sea level, is the world's 25th largest and 7th deepest lake. Its unique climate keeps the water unfrozen year‑round, allowing four‑season tourism. Millions of visitors from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the wider region visit the lake’s beaches, water‑sports sites and surrounding mountains.
The Kyrgyz government is accelerating infrastructure projects—new hotels, transport links and eco‑friendly tourism facilities—to develop the area as a year‑round destination. As part of these efforts, a press conference was held with officials including Eduard Kubatov, director of the State Tourism Development Agency, and Aibek Abylkasymov, head of the Kyrgyz Water‑Motor Sports Federation. Organisers said comprehensive environmental protection measures have been put in place to safeguard the lake’s ecosystem.
From 31 July to 2 August, Issyk Lake will host the UIM F1H2O World Championship Kyrgyzstan Grand Prix, the first F1H2O race in Central Asia, drawing international racers and further boosting the region’s profile.
