Istanbul Airport becomes Europe's busiest aviation hub

Istanbul Airport has become the busiest airport in Europe, according to the latest European Aviation Overview Report from EUROCONTROL. Data covering the period of August 10–16 shows the airport handled an average of 1,665 flights per day, surpassing major hubs such as London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle, and Amsterdam Schiphol.

In terms of global rankings, the airport ranked sixth in the world for daily aircraft departures, averaging 843 take-offs per day. Additionally, Antalya Airport ranked as the ninth busiest airport in Europe, managing an average of 1,037 daily flights during the peak summer season.

On a national level, Turkey has secured its position as the sixth busiest country in Europe for air traffic volume, recording an average of 4,400 daily flights. This performance places Turkey ahead of nations including Greece, Poland, the Netherlands, and Portugal, as noted by Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.
