Istanbul airports lead European aviation performance in August

Istanbul's major airports achieved top performance in Europe during August. According to the ACI EUROPE air traffic report, Istanbul Airport served 8.6 million passengers, a 3% increase from the previous year, making it the busiest airport in Europe during the summer season. It also led Europe in air cargo growth, with an 18.1% increase in traffic.

Sabiha Gökçen International Airport was the fastest-growing airport in the 'major' category (serving over 40 million passengers annually) in Europe, seeing a 9.5% increase in passenger traffic compared to August of last year.

In other regional developments, Osmangazi Electricity Distribution Inc. (OEDAŞ) has implemented a project to calculate regional electricity emission factors across Afyonkarahisar, Bilecik, Eskişehir, Kütahya, and Uşak to support decarbonization and carbon reporting for local industries.

Additionally, infrastructure and traffic management updates were reported in Van, where planned power outages are scheduled for network modernization, and in Ankara, where three new transportation corridors are being developed to alleviate congestion on Eskişehir Road.
