Istanbul districts ban swimming due to high waves

Swimming has been temporarily banned in three Istanbul districts along the Black Sea coast: Beykoz, Sarıyer, and Şile. Local district governorships issued the bans due to adverse meteorological conditions and high wave heights that pose a threat to life safety.

The restrictions are scheduled to remain in effect for two days, specifically on Wednesday, September 9, and Thursday, September 10, 2026. Authorities have urged citizens to comply with the decisions and avoid entering the sea in the specified areas.
