Istanbul Districts Launch Market Weight Checks and Post‑Market Clean‑ups

The Kartal municipality has installed weighing stations in neighbourhood markets, allowing shoppers to verify the gramage of fruits, vegetables and other goods on the spot. The initiative, overseen by the municipal police, aims to prevent weight discrepancies, support honest trade and strengthen trust between vendors and residents. Mayor Gökhan Yüksel said the checkpoints protect consumer rights and promote a fair, transparent shopping environment.

In the Tuzla district, municipal cleaning crews clean the market sites after they are dismantled, washing streets and removing waste to leave the neighbourhoods tidy. Officials highlighted round‑the‑clock effort to maintain hygiene, stating that the post‑market clean‑ups provide residents with healthier, more pleasant public spaces.
