Turkey celebrates 312th anniversary of Firefighting Organization

Various municipalities and organizations across Turkey are observing the 312th anniversary of the Firefighting Organization and Firefighters Week.

In Bursa, Deputy Mayor Şahin Biba emphasized a proactive approach to fire prevention, noting that the industrial city manages an average of 40 fires daily. He pledged to increase budgets for equipment and training to make Bursa a model city for firefighting.

In Kayseri, the Organized Industrial Zone (OSB) reported its operational statistics for the period between September 2025 and September 2026, including the suppression of 62 industrial fires and 92 waste fires. President Mehmet Yalçın highlighted that their response time meets the 6-minute international standard.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay reported that the department responded to 15,544 incidents and successfully carried out 9,364 fire prevention activities in the previous year.

In Istanbul, the Kadıköy Fire Station held special photo exhibitions and awareness events to showcase the diverse roles of firefighters, which range from fire suppression to earthquake rescue and animal salvaging. Meanwhile, in Izmir, the municipality organized a commemorative event titled ‘A Lifetime of Firefighting’ to bridge the gap between retired and active personnel, focusing on the evolution of technology and the preservation of organizational culture.
