Istanbul floods trap hundreds at Phoenix Studios

Severe flooding caused by torrential rainfall in Istanbul trapped hundreds of people at Phoenix Studios in the Ayazağa area of the Sarıyer district. Among those stranded were prominent Turkish singer Murat Boz and actress Demet Özdemir.

Reports indicate that water levels reached approximately two meters, causing power outages and making vehicle or pedestrian evacuation impossible. Between 200 and 250 workers and production staff were caught in the rising waters, forcing them to retreat to higher floors of the building.

Emergency response teams, including AFAD, UMKE, firefighters, the Coast Guard, and search and rescue associations such as SAK and AKUT, conducted a rescue operation. Due to strong currents, rescuers utilized boats to reach the studio and transport individuals to safety. Heavy machinery and trucks were also deployed to assist in the evacuation process.
