Istanbul Foundation distributes kurban meat donations to the needy in Turkey

The Istanbul Foundation (İstanbul Vakfı) began handing out canned kurban meat, bone broth and soup to low‑income families after collecting 45 million 734 thousand 775 lira in donations for the 2024 Kurban Bayramı. The distribution includes 25 620 cans of meat, 2 745 portions of bone broth and soup, prepared from the slaughtered animals.

Since 2020, the Foundation has raised a total of 391 million 299 thousand 243 lira, delivered 57 496 kurban shares, and has supported over 1 million 83 thousand families across Turkey. The initiative is carried out under the approval of the provincial governor and follows the Foundation’s long‑standing practice of organizing annual kurban donation campaigns.

Separately, the charitable association Beşir Derneği, operating since 2013 with a government‑approved public‑benefit status, also promotes kurban donations, using its BEYSİS tracking system to ensure transparency. The association runs 12 regional offices in Turkey and assists vulnerable populations both domestically and abroad, providing food, shelter, health and education aid.
