Istanbul fruit and vegetable sales data released for August

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Hall Directorate released data regarding fruit and vegetable sales in the city for August. A total of 274,157 tons of produce were sold across the Bayrampasa and Atasehir markets during the month.

Watermelon was the most popular fruit, with 16,672 tons sold at an average price of 14.63 lira per kilogram. Other top-selling fruits included melon, grapes, peaches, and nectarines. In the vegetable category, tomatoes led sales with 56,417 tons, followed by peppers, cucumbers, and potatoes.

In terms of volume, Bayrampasa handled 209,830 tons of products, while Atasehir handled 64,327 tons. The combined total included 105,573 tons of fruit and 168,584 tons of vegetables.
