Istanbul hosts 1st National Real Estate Congress

The 1st National Real Estate Congress, organized by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) and the All Entrepreneur Real Estate Consultants Association (TÜGEM), was held at the ITO headquarters. The event brought together representatives from the Ministry of Trade, universities, and technology companies to discuss the future of the real estate sector, focusing on regulation, artificial intelligence, PropTech, and alternative financing.

During the congress, ITO President Şekib Avdagiç highlighted Istanbul's strategic role in Turkey's housing needs. Under the ‘Housing Project of the Century,’ a goal has been set to produce 500,000 social housing units across 81 provinces, with Istanbul expected to host 100,000 of these units and a new model of 15,000 rental social housing units.

Regarding urban transformation, Avdagiç noted that since 2012, 1,274,000 independent units in Istanbul have entered the transformation process, with 998,000 completed. He also mentioned the ‘Half is From Us’ campaign and new regulatory steps, such as the Electronic Advertisement Verification System (EİDS) and the Secure Payment System, aimed at increasing market transparency and reliability.
