Istanbul hosts IFOS global medical congress
Istanbul is hosting the International Federation of Otorhinolaryngological Societies (IFOS) congress, marking the first time in 33 years that Turkey has hosted this major medical event. The gathering at the Istanbul Congress Center brings together approximately 8,000 ear, nose, and throat specialists from 120 countries to discuss the latest scientific developments in the field.
During the opening ceremony, Turkish Grand National Assembly Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş addressed the assembly, highlighting the deep disparities in global healthcare. He criticized the gap between advanced medical technologies in developed nations and the lack of basic services in conflict zones. Kurtulmuş specifically condemned the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and criticized global brands for perceived hypocrisy in their advertising policies regarding human rights and amputees.
