Istanbul imposes two‑day sea ban in Beykoz, Arnavutköy and Şile due to high waves
On August 1‑2 2026, the district governorates of Beykoz, Arnavutköy and Şile in Istanbul announced a temporary prohibition on swimming. The bans were issued because wave heights on the Black Sea coast were deemed unsafe, based on meteorological forecasts and the Provincial Administration Law. Local officials warned residents that beach patrols would enforce the restriction and that the ban could be lifted if sea conditions improve. Citizens were advised to check the latest notices from their district authorities before heading to the beaches.
