Istanbul locations used for Turkish television filming
Recent reports detail the various filming locations used for the television productions ‘Başkalarının Hayatı’ and ‘Altı Üstü İstanbul’, highlighting how Istanbul’s diverse geography reflects the contrasting social worlds of the characters.
For ‘Başkalarının Hayatı’, the university scenes are reportedly filmed in the Ümraniye district on Nato Yolu Avenue, though the specific institution remains unnamed. Indoor classroom scenes utilize the Beykoz Kundura studios. The wealthy Özkaran family’s villa is located in the Polonezköy area of Beykoz, while the more modest neighborhood settings are filmed in the historic streets of Balat.
‘Altı Üstü İstanbul’ utilizes a wide array of Istanbul districts to portray different lifestyles. Key filming areas include Balat, Fener, Beyoğlu, Sarıyer, and Üsküdar, as well as the Fikirtepe and Eğitim neighborhoods in Kadıköy. While the series features a central location called ‘Ziyankar Mahallesi’, this is a fictional setting created for the script and does not exist as an official district in Istanbul.
