Istanbul Metro Sets Daily Record as Ankara Announces Air‑Taxi Project

Turkey’s new Gayrettepe‑Halkalı metro line recorded a daily ridership of 53,396 passengers on its first day, surpassing the previous average of 35,949 and confirming the line as the country’s longest and fastest underground route.

In Ankara, entrepreneur Orhan Ünsal introduced a proposed air‑taxi service based in Polatlı, aiming to cut intercity travel time for business users. The initiative plans to operate on‑demand private flights, develop additional air parks across Turkey, and reduce congestion at major airports.

Both projects reflect a broader push by Turkish authorities and private investors to expand rapid‑transit options and modernise the nation’s transport infrastructure.
