Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality opens 2026 university scholarship applications

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) is currently accepting applications for its ‘Genç Üniversiteli’ (Young University Student) education support program for the 2026-2027 academic year. The application period, which began on September 29, 2026, is scheduled to conclude on October 23, 2026.

The municipality has allocated a total budget of 2.5 billion TL to provide non-refundable support to 125,000 students. Each recipient will receive 20,000 TL. Eligible applicants include Turkish citizens who are enrolled in associate, undergraduate, master's, or doctoral programs at state universities or those receiving 100% scholarships at foundation universities, provided they or their families reside in Istanbul.

Applications must be submitted digitally via the official website or the ‘İstanbul Senin’ mobile application. Students studying in different cities are eligible if their families live in Istanbul. However, certain groups are excluded, such as those in open or distance learning programs, students with less than a 100% scholarship at foundation universities, and students over the age of 30 for undergraduate studies or 40 for graduate studies.
